8 Simple Steps To A Healthy Mouth

Step 1Brush your teeth at LEAST twice a day. It is much better if you can fit in three times daily, and the absolute best is to brush as often as possible after you eat anything. That one is hard for most of us, but you see the goal is to brush as often as possible, and the more you can create a habit of brushing at certain times, the better you will be about not missing any.

Step 2
Floss every day! It is very easy to do, and only takes a couple of extra minutes.

Step 3
Use a flouride rinse after brushing. I know some people are nervous about using flouride, but dentists still recommend it strongly. Also consider using an anti-plaque rinse before brushing.

Step 4
See your dentist every 6 months, or at least every year. Don't put it off! If you are scared of the dentist, remember it will be much harder on you if you put it off, as there will likely be more problems found, and more work to be done. There are many dentists who cater to scaredy-cats, so look one up!

Step 5
Talk to your dentist about added services, such as special coatings that can further prevent tooth decay and plaque.

Step 6Don't drink soda!!!! This is REALLY BAD for your teeth, not to mention the empty calories overall. Diet soda is just as bad for your teeth: don't fool yourself. The proven results are that orange soda is the absolute worst, but any soda is bad. If you still want to drink it, at least cut down, and don't brush your teeth for at least one hour after drinking soda, as that will worsen the effect.

Step 7
If you are a serious coffee or tea drinker, talk to your dentist about the very best products for preventing stains
.

Step 8Don't smoke!
