Time To Change Your Toothbrush? | The Dacula Dentist

We all know that brushing two to three times a day is important, but what you are brushing with is just as important.  You need to make sure that the toothbrush you are using is getting the job done. If your toothbrush is old or worn out, it is simply not going to properly clean your teeth.

The American Dental Association recommends that your replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months.  If you notice that your bristles look damaged or tattered, you should replace your toothbrush right away.  It may also be a good idea to purchase a “smart” toothbrush that has color indicators on the bristles so you know when it’s time to replace it.

It’s also recommended that you replace your toothbrush after taking it on a trip. Usually on a trip your toothbrush may come in contact with unfamiliar people and environments. To ensure that your toothbrush hasn’t picked up any foreign or dangerous bacteria, it’s best to just toss it.

After you get over an illness, is another time when you want to get a new toothbrush. You don’t want to re-infect yourself or someone else in your household.

Get the most of our your daily brushing routine by using a toothbrush that is in tip top shape. Be sure to replace your toothbrush regularly and brush daily.  If you have more questions on dental health, call us today.  We want to be your dentist!
