Tips For Protecting Your Tooth Enamel | The Dacula Dentist

Most everyone understands the value of maintaining strong healthy teeth. Part of protecting your teeth is protecting your enamel. Tooth enamel is the hard outer surface layer of your teeth. The enamel is important because it is a protective barrier that works to help prevent tooth decay.  Tooth enamel is amazingly strong, even stronger than bone, but it still needs our help to maintain it. Here are a few tips to help you protect your tooth enamel:

Brush 2 to 3 times daily: this will help reduce plaque build up

Watch what you drink: avoid harsh drinks like soda and sports drinks that strip enamel from your teeth

Rinse after acidic foods: do a quick mouth rinse after eating acidic food as to minimize the damage they can cause

Keep your mouth moist: saliva helps prevent tooth decay and neutralize acids

Since enamel loss is permanent, it is important to protect it.  Develop healthy eating, drinking and oral care habits. All of theses things will help to protect your tooth enamel and keep your teeth strong.  If you have more questions on keeping your teeth healthy, call us today.
