Do You Have Gingivitis? | The Dacula Dentist

Sometimes you know something is wrong with your teeth or gums, but you are not sure what. If you notice that your gums are inflamed, you may have gingivitis.  Gingivitis is a common problem and is an indicator that more serious issues may be on the horizon.  Gingivitis is the initial stage of gum disease, but it is treatable.

So what causes gingivitis? It's Plaque. Plaque is a bacteria that lines the the teeth and gums.  It can irritate the gums and cause gingivitis. The best way to prevent plaque build up is thoroughly brushing and flossing everyday.  You should also have complete professional teeth cleanings and exams twice a year by a qualified dentist.

Signs of Gingivitis Include:
Red gums
Swollen and/or tender gums
